You back a forward to score. If he is substituted before scoring and the direct replacement scores later, a qualifying PowerSub/Super Sub-style market can still settle as a winner.
Assist or goal plus assist
Some operators include assist or score-or-assist markets. Data provider rules matter here, so check whether assists are settled by Opta or another official feed.
Shots and shots on target
Shot markets are often where substitution protection has practical value. If the starter leaves early, the replacement may continue the same shot-count route.
Cards and fouls
Several Super Sub-style terms include bookings, fouls committed or fouls won. The exact list differs by operator, competition and market icon.
What Bet Builder is
Bet Builder (also called Same Game Multi, Player Combo or Request A Bet depending on the bookmaker) lets you combine two or more selections from the same football match into a single bet. For example: Team A to win + Over 2.5 goals + Player X to score anytime.
Because the selections are correlated (from the same match), Bet Builder odds are calculated by the bookmaker's algorithm rather than simply multiplying standard win odds. The more selections you add, the higher the potential return — and the higher the risk.
Most major UK sportsbooks now offer Bet Builder on Premier League and other top-flight football.
Does Super Sub apply to Bet Builder legs?
This is the most important question for bettors using both features. In most cases, substitution protection (Super Sub, Sub Payout, Impact Sub) does NOT automatically apply to player legs inside a Bet Builder.
The key rule at most UK bookmakers: if the Bet Builder market itself shows the Super Sub or Sub Payout icon, the protection may apply. If only the standalone player market shows the icon, it typically does not carry through to a Bet Builder combination.
Always check the betslip for each leg of your Bet Builder before submitting. If the substitution protection icon is not visible on the Bet Builder slip, assume it does not apply.
